Regis and Kelly Come to PEI

It has been some fun here on Prince Edward Island. For the last two days Regis and Kelly have been here filming their show on location in Charlottetown! You can feel excitement in the air...its as thick as the humidity. I feel so lucky to live here..it is truly a wondrous place.. it is magic. When I think of Regis and Kelly I see them in a topper...they are so funny and darling that you want them on your mantel :D.

UPDATE...my sculpture made it on the July 15th 2010 Live with Regis and Kelly. I can't wait to see the show... its going to be great. Someone sent me a picture they took from the audience of the big screen while Regis and Kelly talked about the sculpture.

King and Queen of Hearts

Kelly came to me with an idea to have the King and Queen of Hearts cards as her cake topper for her Vegas wedding . She wanted something a little more special then sticking two cards on the top of her cake. I couldn't agree more. I really wanted the cards to interact with each other. When I looked at the cards I realized that the King and Queen only face each other on the diagonal which is when I came up with the idea of having the King and Queen come out of the cards.

Happy 50th Birthday Gerry! Gerry's thoughtful wife ordered him a custom cake topper to celebrate turning 50. The theme as you can see was "hockey". Mini Goalie Gerry is sporting the Team Canada jersey and holding his Louisville TPS hockey stick. If you can believe it or not he's been using that stick for 30 years.

Jessica and Zeb's Wakeboarding Topper

Clients Jessica and Zeb had a beautiful winter wedding and recently shared with me their wedding photos. They were a blast to work with. The cake topper had Jessica driving their speed boat while Zeb was out back wake boarding. I thought the cake lady did an excellent job making the icing look like waves.. and to match the color and feel of the topper. Top grades from me!

Rat Rod Shaun

For Christmas I made my husband a topper to let him know how much he means to me. It is one part "Shaun", one part "Rat Fink" and all "Bad Ass". I think it turned out great and I am hoping to make many more of these for anyone who had a passion for Cars. It was great to be able to use lots of chalk and paint to make a rusty car look. I had to do a lot of fine detail painting in Shaun's many tattoos. Even the skull gear shifter has gems in the eye sockets for a little extra something.

Bill's 50th Birthday Potty

One of my client from Morgantown, USA emailed me today with a picture from the big 50th Birthday. The cake topper was a surprise for her husband who was turning the big 5-0! Deb had a great sense of humor and went all out with her idea of having Bill on a seniors toilet...basically nude too! I warned her that she is setting herself up for some retaliation but she is brave enough to handle it.

I just got back from Ontario ari ari-O, where my lovely sister-in-law had a Fake wedding...yes yes a fake wedding. The love birds got married in Vegas last year and this year they went ahead and did a traditional wedding without the religious ceremony. So I made them a cake topper wearing their Vegas wedding attire. I was very happy with the results. It was nice being at a wedding that my topper was at. I got to see and hear the crowds reactions. It was fantastic!

Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner

The latest topper takes the cake for the most difficult topper to date! Dirty Dancing fans wanted the last scene of the movie their wedding cake topper. This topper is almost double the normal height of my toppers because of the lift. I had to re-enforce the topper with a stronger metal that i have never used before. I think it worked out well.

Olivia Munn in a Pie

Olivia Munn inspired me to sculpt a 6inch tall sculpture of her in her french maid outfit on a blueberry pie....for National Pie Week. I am really happy with it. I tried some new techniques that I think worked out well.

The thigh highs are created by powdering on the Polymer clay with a soft brush before the baking. It works well cause it lets the flesh colour come through. I tried once painting the leg and then wiping it back but it was too harsh... this works out a lot better.

I also used powder to the pie to make it looked baked. I haven't done much food replicas but when I have done it it was so much fun!
